Supporting Children with SEND

At Stanbridge we believe all children should achieve in school and make good progress.  Parents know their children best and it is important to work together in partnership, enabling children to reach their full potential, make progress and learn.

We aim to support children with SEND using an adaptive learning environment where all children can flourish, feel valued and achieve. We provide in house support and interventions to support learning, as well as use advice and strategies from external agencies,  Examples of these can be found below in Our Local Offer.  Teachers track progress and attainment across the year and are available to talk to at anytime you may have a concern  about your child’s learning.

No child will be refused admission to school on the basis of his or her special educational need, ethnicity or language need.  In line with the Equalities Act 2010, we will not discriminate against disabled children and we will take all reasonable steps to provide effective educational provision (see Admission policy for the school, as agreed with the Local Authority)

As a school we are happy to discuss individual access requirements. Facilities we have at present include:

  • Specialist changing facilities which features a wet room, separate toilets with support bars and emergency pull cord,
  • Two disabled toilets both for boys and girls within the toilet block.
  • Ramps to access all parts of the building and field with wide doors leading into the building.
  • Stanbridge has a Disability Equality Scheme in place which addresses the schools needs and accessibility issues further.

Risk assessments are arranged to ensure classrooms are safe for your child’s specialist physical needs.

Our SENDCo is Mrs C Golby and she is available to talk to on 01525 210328.  Please ring to book an appointment.
