At Stanbridge Lower, French is delivered in Year 3 and Year 4 in line with the National Curriculum requirements and supported by the Twinkl scheme of work.
Children are taught how to communicate practically using the language they are learning. They will be able to ask and answer questions, express opinions and respond to other’s; seek clarification and help; speak in sentences using familiar vocabulary, phrases and basic language structures. Children will develop the ability to read carefully and show an understanding of words, phrases and simple writing. They will be encouraged to appreciate stories, songs, poems and rhymes in the language they are studying.
