Pupil Premium

Did you know that registering your child for Free School Meals (FSM) means that the school gets extra money to support learning through the Pupil Premium Funding Grant?

Your child may be eligible for FSM if you are in receipt of:
  • Universal Credit (if your annual net earned income is £7,400 or less, as assessed over up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (if you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual gross income is £16,190 or less)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
To find out if you qualify, please call Central Bedfordshire Council on 0300 300 8000, and advise them that you have a child at Stanbridge Lower School.  Have the following information ready to share with them:

• National insurance numbers and dates of birth of parent/carer
• Dates of birth of your children
• If you receive support from the National Asylum Support Service, your NASS number

If you need further help or information, please speak with Mrs Felstead, our Family Liaison Officer.

What is Pupil Premium Funding and how is it spent?

The pupil premium is Government funding for schools to support pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.  The following pupils attract Pupil Premium funding:

  • pupils who are eligible for free schools meals (FSM)
  • pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • children looked after by local authorities and referred to as looked-after children (LAC)
  • previously-looked after children (PLAC)

Schools have to use this funding in the best way possible to ensure that disadvantaged learners have the best possible opportunity to achieve as well as those not from disadvantaged backgrounds. See below to see our Pupil Premium Strategy:
