Stanbridge Lower School is at the heart of the community. Governors have a vital role to play in helping to make sure that every child achieves, belongs and thrives during their time here.
We ensure that:
- that the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined
- that the headteacher performs their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school
- the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources
We must:
- act with integrity, objectivity and honesty and in the best interests of the school
- be open about the decisions they make and the actions they take and shall be prepared to explain their decisions and actions to interested parties
The governing body also has legislative responsibility and strategic oversight for the school’s safeguarding arrangements.
Responsibilities are currently delegated to the following committees:
Finance, Resources & Personnel: setting the school budget, monitoring spending, staffing structure and wellbeing, pay and salaries, publicity including website compliance, HR issues, premises inc health and safety, building maintenance and school grounds.
Pupil & Curriculum: raising standards and monitoring data outcomes, inclusion, behaviour, attendance, admissions, developing the school curriculum, inclusion, health and emotional well being.
Head Teacher Appraisal: setting and reviewing targets to hold the headteacher to account and further developing standards in across the school.
